Snacks can provide energy in between meals or before exercising and can also help decrease hunger, keeping you from overeating later in the day. I personally love to snack, but I have made an effort in recent years to wait at least 3-4 hours between meals and snacks to allow for optimal digestion and proper functioning of the migrating motor complex, an important component of a healthy digestive system.
